I always thought the problem was my employees.
If they would only work harder, get more done, and take on some of the late-hour burdens, I’d have enough time to grow the business.
But when I started going to conferences and meeting successful owners, I noticed a pattern:
Every one of them tied their success to their teams.
And when I dug deeper, I finally realised...
"The real problem isn't my employees. It's the systems I have (or lack of) that are not helping them win."
If there isn't a system for KPIs, how do they know if they're winning?
If there are no manuals, how do I expect people to know what to do?
If there isn't a clear path for advancement, how do I keep them motivated?
If there's no training system, how can people learn from each other and get better?
If there's no sales process and everybody does it differently, how can I scale the business?
Once I understood that, I made it my number one priority to build the systems to elevate my team.
And it paid off big time.
Thanks to those systems, today my Garage Door company is doing $200 million in revenue and we have over 700 employees in 20 states.
